Dear Friends,

Many of you are aware by now that we restarted ‘in-person’ church services, on Sundays at Hayle Academy on Sunday 25th July.

The plan at the moment is to have two services, one at 9.30am and one at 11am. We will have to restrict numbers to 70 per service to begin with, and see how it goes. This should allow us to maintain social distancing and help you feel safe. We want this to continue to be a safe environment, and will endeavour to maintain it as such and will have as much ventilation into the hall as we can. The toilet facilities will be as before, but we ask you sanitise them before you use them. Wipes will be provided.

  • Service 1 – 9.30am. All ages are welcome but adult attendees will be required to wear masks unless medically exempt. Singing will be permitted but masks must be worn.

  • Service 2 – 11am. Masks at this service are left to the individual’s discretion. You will be able to sing.

If you are attending either of the services, please do not come too early as you will be unable to take your seat until approx. 15 minutes before the start of the service.

The first week will be an All-Age service with worship, prayer, a family talk, and a time to reconnect. The services will be identical and we aim for them to last approximately 45mins. You will be asked to sanitise your hands on entry to the building, and will be free to choose where you want to sit. The chairs will be set apart, but families, couples and those who wish to, can move their chairs near to other people, but only with their permission.

After the first service you will be asked to leave the school and only chat outside the school. There will be no refreshments served for the time being.

We will then wipe down the chairs and prepare for the second service.

After the second service we again will ask you to leave the building and connect with each other outside, whilst we pack down.

From the 1st August, during the second service at 11am, there will be activities for the children. (We will need workers to step up to help with the children’s work as the week’s progress.)

All the staff and those serving will be asked to have taken a lateral flow test prior to arriving on the Sunday morning. (We require it for the staff at least twice per week anyway).

Prayer will be available after each service, either in the corridor next to the hall, or outside.

Please email the church office stating which service you would like to attend using hayle@lightandlife.co.uk or text 07597 134932.

We will endeavour to record the teaching at the 9.30am service and put this out on-line sometime later in the day. Due to restrictions on the internet at the school and bad reception otherwise, we cannot do a ‘live feed’ at the moment.

I’m sorry for the length of this letter, but we are trying to take the first steps forward appreciating people’s needs and opinions as to how this should be done. We love this body of Christ and recognise our duty of care to all, and will do all we can to mitigate the risks ongoing. Please be patient with us. Even these plans will involve a lot of work for those involved in set up and the running of the services.

So please pray for us – we have seen some amazing answers to prayer during the last 16 months.

If you have particular questions please contact the Pastors, staff or SLT members and we will try to help. Please be patient and let’s make GRACE our primary value as we move forward as the Body of Christ.

Let’s celebrate that we can worship together more freely, but also love and care for one another. Our church’s aims are as ever to ‘Love like Jesus, Live like Jesus and Lead others to Jesus’. Let us bring hope to our communities and show them how to honour, value and be gracious to all around us.

Blessings, Bob on behalf of Hayle Light and Life.
